This is a multi-part business development plan series.  To begin, we will discuss the five core strategies you can use to grow any business.

All of the “attracting new customer” ideas in the world will not help your business unless you have some core business growth principles in place. Without these core strategies in place and without a system to manage them, it is much harder if not impossible to consistently get full return from your marketing, customers and businesses as a whole.

You are about to read a very powerful step by step system to turn your business into a lean, mean profit making machine. This is the exact system I use when working with clients to help improve their business.

Imagine your business is brand new and you need to build it form the ground up. One of the best ways to build something that is both strong and that will last is to build it in the shape of a pyramid. So, that’s what we are going to do.

The bottom level has five “blocks” which will be our base. These five blocks are Attraction, Conversion, Maximization, Optimization, and Retention. These are the five core strategies for business development.

Attraction – Attracting and getting customers to your local business.
Conversion – Getting those you attract and converting them to paying customers.
Maximization – Getting the most out of each customer or maximizing each customer and sale.
Optimization – Optimize the business performance, employees, manuals, procedures, vendors etc.
Retention – Retaining your customers so they don’t go elsewhere.

Spend some time reviewing these core strategies and how they relate to your business.  Be honest and expose any areas where your business may be weak.  Then brainstorm with your staff, mastermind group or other trusted sources to come up with ways to strengthen your weak areas first and then eventually all areas.
